Just got done skimming Razorfish‘s Digital Outlook Report 2009. A long read (180 pages but lots of those pages are either images only or are not a full page of text) but worth it. Really interesting info about mobile marketing, trends in advertising, email marketing and the mobile mom, to name a few. Give it [...]
I was reading an article in a marketing trade journal last night and the topic was telling your company’s story in a compelling way, particularly through the use of case studies. During my 15 years in marketing so far, I have worked on case studies for a number of employers. It’s always interesting to me [...]
I was aware of Wordle before today and had played with it briefly but didn’t have the opportunity or reason to do much more with it. Well today changed all of that. I’m currently working on making enhancements to my company’s website and a coworker suggested doing Wordles on our team bios and including those on [...]
So much of being successful in social media is being authentic. Be real, we’re told. What I find interesting about that advice is just how prevalent it is in all aspects of business right now. Think about it — the typical used car salesman. Slimy, untrustworthy and not authentic, right? I was at a dinner tonight that [...]
Because I love the movie Napoleon Dynamite, this article I came across earlier today is brilliant: Napoleon Dynamite’s Guide to Social Networking Now if you’ll excuse me, I’m off to make some sweet moola with Uncle Rico in his awesome orange van. Sweet!
Every day it seems like there’s another example of a company or organization using Twitter for business purposes, and most recently one example caught my eye. As the mother of a 2-year-old boy, Thomas the Tank Engine is extremely popular in my house. I came across an article earlier this week about the promoters of [...]
In Jeremy Epstein‘s blog post from Tuesday, he referenced a document about social media/marketing perspectives for 2009. There’s a lot out there on measuring the effectiveness of social media, but I wholeheartedly agree with Jeremy’s assessment that Olivier Blanchard‘s analysis model makes sense
I was on a call earlier today with an organization wanting to do business with the company I work for. It continues to amaze me just how desperate companies are in these challenging economic times — offering discounts right off the bat. A rep from this organization was telling me that they’ve had incredible response [...]
So I’m sitting here watching The Food Network, one of my fav cable channels, and a woman identified as a “7-11 Expert” was just interviewed. I wonder…..what made this woman so interested in 7-11 that she’s now a recognized expert? Is she some random 7-11 fan or (more likely) does she work in 7-11′s marketing department? [...]
The Daily Krier is running commentary on what's happening in my life on a regular basis. I write about things that interest me -- my family, my hobbies, my career in marketing. The blog was born from my interest in writing, my need to become more involved in all things related to social media, and my desire to start on my personal brand. The blog title is a play on my last name. It's technically pronounced "kreer" but everyone pronounces it as "cry-er". The mis-pronounciation lends itself extremely well to the title, don't you think?
