Missing the Mark

In: marketing

I called Portrait Innovations the other day to schedule an appointment for my younger son’s first birthday pictures.  I’ve been there before and the big draw is the $9.99 portrait package as well as the fact that you get your pictures within about 15 minutes.  I’ve also gone to the Sears Portrait Studio and what [...]

Celebrities on Twitter, Part 3

In: marketing

OK, so blogging about celebrities on Twitter has now resulted in 3 blog posts.  I seriously wasn’t thinking I’d add 2 more after the initial one.  Anyway, I just saw on Mashable tonight that Ashton Kutcher has now hit 2 million followers (and no, I’m not one of the 2 million).   That’s great for him but just [...]

Celebrities on Twitter, Part 2

In: marketing

Last week I blogged about following a musician on Twitter, and I’m sure everyone has heard about Ashton Kutcher’s wager with CNN and Oprah finally joining Twitter.  Just this morning I heard that Kimora Lee Simmons had her third baby over the weekend, and that she tweeted both during labor and shortly after the baby [...]

Celebrities on Twitter

In: marketing

About a week ago I started following a musician on Twitter who’s pretty well known.  I tend not to follow celebrities as I view Twitter as more of a resource-sharing tool and, thus, am looking for interesting tweets from others who point out great articles or other helpful information.  In this case, however, I decided [...]

How Do You Engage?

In: marketing

Engaging your audience — it’s a hot topic in the social media world these days and the Milwaukee AMA chapter is no different.  We are hosting a volunteer recruitment event next Thursday and are working diligently behind the scenes to promote the event and identify and organize our volunteer opportunities.  As with many organizations and [...]

Social Media and Recruiting

In: marketing

So I’m giving my first presentation via webinar tomorrow.  The topic is “Creating a Social Networking Recruitment Strategy” and we have the most registrants for any webinar we’ve held so far this year!  I’m feeling pretty confident about the topic and the presentation, but it’s still a bit nerve-wracking.  Anyway, there continues to be strong [...]

Launching a New Blog

In: marketing

The company I work for is launching a new blog on Monday.  We already have 2 company blogs, one penned by our CEO and the other a collaboration between 3 staff members.  I’m really looking forward to this new blog as there are 7 staff members who will be contributing, talking about all things recruiting-related.  [...]

Social Media Marketing Strategy

In: marketing

At a meeting of CMO-level marketing execs yesterday, the topic of social media came up.  Not surprising since it seems to be THE topic of discussion lately.  Everyone has questions about the strategy behind integrating social media into a marketing plan and because it’s so new, there are no clear-cut, proven templates to work from.  [...]

Are There Really Raving Fans for Carpet?

In: marketing

There’s a local carpet retailer here in the greater Milwaukee area who advertises on television quite frequently.  As I was watching the season finale of The Biggest Loser last night, one of these commercials caught my attention at the very end.  All I caught was “Malkin’s Carpets…….creating raving fans every day.”  Wow.  So someone over [...]

Engaging Your Audience

In: marketing

As the current president of the AMA-Milwaukee chapter, I work closely with my board members to set our strategic goals and implement the tactics to help us reach those goals.  As with most organizations, there are a few people who are heavily involved, with most members simply attending the programs and networking events.  One of the main [...]

About this blog

The Daily Krier is running commentary on what's happening in my life on a regular basis. I write about things that interest me -- my family, my hobbies, my career in marketing. The blog was born from my interest in writing, my need to become more involved in all things related to social media, and my desire to start on my personal brand. The blog title is a play on my last name. It's technically pronounced "kreer" but everyone pronounces it as "cry-er". The mis-pronounciation lends itself extremely well to the title, don't you think?
