New Approaches to Marketing

In: marketing

We’re heading into Q4 of the calendar year which means like many out there, I’m in the throes of working on 2010 planning.  Seth Godin has had some interesting posts on the subject lately (the platform vs the eyeballs and do marketers have assets?) and I had a great conversation with someone on Friday about social [...]

Hilton Hotels is NOT Listening

In: marketing

Quick follow up to last week’s blog post.  After blog posts by several people, Tweets (including one that included the @hiltonhhonors name), Facebook posting, etc., we were stunned that we hadn’t heard from Hilton.  My friend Barry who had his points revoked by Hilton finally sent an email to a PR guy at Hilton including [...]

Hilton Hotels, Are You Listening?

In: marketing

There’s a lot of talk these days about the importance of listening to what’s being said about you as a company.  The rise of social media has given individuals a voice and those voices are incredibly powerful.  Surely you haven’t forgotten the guy whose guitar was smashed by American Airlines.   Now more than ever, companies, [...]

Social Media and Business Success

In: marketing

The company I work for truly understands the power of social media.  Our CEO leads by example and social media is becoming an ingrained part of our culture.  Our first success story was being notified by a client via Facebook that we had been awarded the contract.  Huge success!  The second success story was one [...]

Applying Lessons Learned

In: marketing

I had the privilege this afternoon of hearing three dynamic speakers at an event I attended.  Upon reflection, what I came away with was this one very important observation:  there are so many great ideas out there that can help you improve your business or your profession.  The hard part is actually implementing those ideas.  [...]

Healthcare Self-Service

In: marketing, Personal

I love healthcare providers that are embracing technology and social media. I’m a huge fan of communicating online and recently saw a new general practitioner.  After filling out some brief paperwork the old fashioned way, I was set up to view my test results, schedule appointments, look up my health history and email my doctor. Having [...]

Back in the Saddle Again

In: marketing, Personal

With the RPOlympics kicking off at my employer next week, I decided I might as well couple the daily physical activity with a concerted effort at dropping these stubborn 20 pounds.  So I rejoined Weight Watchers (WW) using the online program and their eTools.  I had followed the company on Twitter a few months ago [...]

Website Woes

In: marketing

It’s hard to find the right balance between an agency who is great at website development/programming and equally strong at understanding a brand and applying it appropriately online.  I’m going through that struggle right now with my company’s website as we work on the next version.  From a backend programming and navigation standpoint, the agency is [...]

Not long ago I blogged about my use of Techrigy to monitor what was being said about my employer.  As a result of blogging, Techrigy doubled the # of results I can receive, which was publicized on their site.  Not only did they deliver what they promised, but they responded quickly and I received not [...]

Online Reputation Assessment

In: marketing

I’ve been doing some research recently to find a provider that can tell me what the buzz is online about my employer.  One of the great ones I’ve come across so far is Techrigy.  Unfortunately with the free version you’re limited to 5 inquiries and 1,000 results, I believe.  I set up the account for [...]

About this blog

The Daily Krier is running commentary on what's happening in my life on a regular basis. I write about things that interest me -- my family, my hobbies, my career in marketing. The blog was born from my interest in writing, my need to become more involved in all things related to social media, and my desire to start on my personal brand. The blog title is a play on my last name. It's technically pronounced "kreer" but everyone pronounces it as "cry-er". The mis-pronounciation lends itself extremely well to the title, don't you think?
