Do You Have a Mingle Stick?

In: marketing

While it sounds kind of dirty, trust me, it’s not.  Read on.  A colleague and I were on the phone the other day with the coordinator for an upcoming event that our CEO is speaking at.  As we were discussing other ways to get visibility at the event, the topic of sponsoring the Mingle Stick [...]

Find Former Classmates…..In a Book?

In: marketing

I received a postcard in the mail earlier this week from the high school I attended, requesting that I call the 800 number to update my biographical information.  I called the number and updated all of my information (personal and professional) and heard the rep on the phone say “so can South High depend on [...]

Using Social Media to Sell Your Home

In: marketing

A good friend of mine just put her house on the market about a week ago.  Yes, it’s the middle of winter in Wisconsin but she’s already had good activity in terms of showings.  Even before the house was officially listed, she had been posting messages and pictures to Facebook to start creating a buzz.  Once it was [...]

The Droid - Part 2

In: Personal, marketing

Now that it’s been a few days and I’m mostly comfortable with using my new Droid, I decided tonight was the night to jump in and learn more about the numerous apps that are available for download.  I had downloaded 2 or 3 right when I activated the phone (thanks to the helpful reps at [...]

No Receipt? No Problem

In: Personal, marketing

I had a surprisingly pleasant experience today when returning something to a local hardware store.  My husband and I had purchased 5 sets of white net lights for the bushes outside our front living room window. When putting them outside one of the sets didn’t work and, unfortunately, I had thrown the receipt away already. [...]

It Certainly Was a Black Friday for Kohls

In: marketing

Like many, many people out there, I was at the stores at 6 am looking for deals on the presents I need to buy for Christmas.   Thankfully I was home 3 hours later, although there are still many gifts on my list.  Just a short time ago I pulled up the Journal Sentinel site to [...]

How Much Time do You Spend on Social Media?

In: marketing

I was having an interesting conversation with my brother-in-law last night.  He’s very techie and whenever I have a technical question he’s who I turn to. Anyway, we were talking about social media and what kind of aggregator I use.  I was saying that I use HootSuite for Twitter and ping.fm for everything else.  He [...]

Blogging Daily

In: marketing

I’ve decided to get back into the swing of blogging regularly. I know the benefits it provides to my personal brand, to readership, etc., yet I’ve been finding it challenging to find the time and the topics.  Yes, there are lots of things I could blog on but as I think about how this blog impacts my [...]

Lessons Learned From the Social Recruiting Summit

In: marketing

I attended the Social Recruiting Summit in NYC this past Monday.  No, I’m not a recruiter but the company I work for is in the recruiting business and we were sponsoring the Summit.  As with everything related to social media, there were people there who were new to it and others who have been doing [...]

Now This Is Good Customer Service

In: marketing

I’m heading to a conference in Tampa next week and made the hotel reservations at the Saddlebrook Resort for myself and a colleague online yesterday, using the link directly to the hotel’s website as provided on the conference website.  I quickly and easily booked the rooms and continued my day.  This morning I received a [...]

About this blog

The Daily Krier is running commentary on what's happening in my life on a regular basis. I write about things that interest me -- my family, my hobbies, my career in marketing. The blog was born from my interest in writing, my need to become more involved in all things related to social media, and my desire to start on my personal brand. The blog title is a play on my last name. It's technically pronounced "kreer" but everyone pronounces it as "cry-er". The mis-pronounciation lends itself extremely well to the title, don't you think?
