With the RPOlympics kicking off at my employer next week, I decided I might as well couple the daily physical activity with a concerted effort at dropping these stubborn 20 pounds.  So I rejoined Weight Watchers (WW) using the online program and their eTools.  I had followed the company on Twitter a few months ago and was extremely disappointed to see that they had an account but no activity and didn’t appear to be making any effort and jumping in.  Well, after a quick check tonight they still aren’t doing very well on Twitter (only 3 tweets since February but the really sad part is that they have almost 6,000 followers) but their website is another story entirely.

As well as tracking your food online as well as your activity, weight and looking up restaurants and food online, they have added a ton of other cool features since I was last a member.  Members can now set up a free blog (only viewable to other community members), track their measurements, build recipes online while calculating the points value, and so much more.  All the cool tools are there for people who want to do this online.  The one thing I haven’t checked out yet is if I can access the eTools on my Blackberry.

So perhaps they don’t need to engage with people via Twitter?  Seems to me that it should go hand-in-hand with their website strategy.  And when I became a fan of theirs on Facebook just now, I was disappointed there, too.  Almost 2,000 fans but only 2 wall posts (both back in March).  Again, I’m guessing that people who actually become fans on Facebook would really engage with WW and have the potential to become raving fans.  What a lost opportunity!

At any rate, they are making strides on their website and I’m impressed with those tools. Let’s see if I can make the same progress to get back down to my goal weight.
