I have a friend who is not involved with social networking at all. Her job is in banking so she’s busy processing loans all day, but has heard me and others talk about the various social networking sites. I showed her Twitter and she didn’t really understand what the fuss is all about. She asked if I’d help her set up a LinkedIn profile (which I did) but she hasn’t done anything with it beyond listing the job she currently holds. Then today we were talking about Facebook and I was explaining that one of our old college roommates friended me on Facebook. I haven’t seen her since college but we’re back in touch now through Facebook. That led me to suggest to my friend that perhaps Facebook is the more useful social networking site for her. Both her and her husband’s family are located throughout the United States so it would be an easy way for her to keep in touch with them. On the work front, she’s quite content with her job and doesn’t do any true networking so her LinkedIn profile will just sit there. I think she’d be better off focusing setting up a Facebook profile and connecting with family and friends that way. So what do you think she should focus on? Facebook or LinkedIn?
The Daily Krier is running commentary on what's happening in my life on a regular basis. I write about things that interest me -- my family, my hobbies, my career in marketing. The blog was born from my interest in writing, my need to become more involved in all things related to social media, and my desire to start on my personal brand. The blog title is a play on my last name. It's technically pronounced "kreer" but everyone pronounces it as "cry-er". The mis-pronounciation lends itself extremely well to the title, don't you think?
