It was a rough weekend at the Krier household. First of all yours truly came down with strep throat. I had been feeling a bit under the weather already on Thursday but I figured it was nothing a couple of Tylenol every couple of hours couldn’t cure. Well by the time Saturday morning rolled around and it was nearly impossible to swallow, I figured a trip to the urgent care clinic was in order. One throat culture and 5 minutes later, I got the confirmation that yes, I had strep.
After a full day of resting (per doctor’s orders), it was back at ‘em on Sunday. The house was generally in shambles (amazing what one day out of commission can do!) so that meant Sunday morning was spent cleaning up, doing dishes, laundry, etc. By that time all of us were going stir crazy because it had been raining all weekend. Once the rain let up later in the afternoon, we packed the boys in the car and headed off to the mall for a bit. And that’s where the second unfortuate thing happened to me this weekend. After loading my older son into the double stroller, I figured I’d be helpful and close the rear door of the vehicle. Well somehow I closed the door on two of the fingers on my right hand. And closed it so well that I had to pull the handle to get the door open again! A few cursewords later, I calmed down, apologized to my older son (who was looking on in sheer wonder, never having heard such words before), walked into the mall and almost passed out from the pain. No broken fingers, thankfully, but some pretty good swelling. Very minor bruising, amazingly enough.
So that brings us to today. My younger son was out of sorts yesterday and I was afraid I had given strep to him. After all, as the doctor told me Saturday morning, “You’re contagious until you’ve been on antibiotics for 24 hours. You probably shouldn’t have been at work on Friday.” Anyway, my 10-month-old had something going on. So a quick trip to the doctor today confirmed that he’s got an ear infection. So it looks like it’s 10 days of medicine for both of us!
So usually I dread Mondays but after the weekend I had, I have to say……..thank goodness it’s Monday!
The Daily Krier is running commentary on what's happening in my life on a regular basis. I write about things that interest me -- my family, my hobbies, my career in marketing. The blog was born from my interest in writing, my need to become more involved in all things related to social media, and my desire to start on my personal brand. The blog title is a play on my last name. It's technically pronounced "kreer" but everyone pronounces it as "cry-er". The mis-pronounciation lends itself extremely well to the title, don't you think?
