I’ve had plenty of massages in my day, even a couple while pregant.  And while I’ve enjoyed them all, I never stray from the standard massage even though there are lots of different types.  Well I had a massage today and when I met with the masseuse prior to the start of my appointment, she asked (as they always do) if there were any particular spots on my body that were giving me trouble or that I wanted her to focus on.  Given the current state of my back and neck, I asked her to focus the entire hour on my upper back.  She asked if I ever had a deep tissue massage and when I answered “no” she said we’d give it a shot and if it was too painful she’d ease up.  I have to admit, I didn’t realize that this particular type of massage was done sans oil or lotion.  But it was a FABULOUS experience and my upper back felt wonderful afterwards. I think she was able to work some knots out and get things moving again. Even better, when I went to the chiropractor a few hours later even he commented on how things seemed to be adjusting easier today. Now I’m guessing that’s a result of going in 3 times a week in addition to the massage today.  If only the doctor could order massages 3 times a week!
