After several months of suffering with back pain that doesn’t seem to be getting any better, I decided to make an appointment with a chiropractor to get things checked out. I first logged onto my insurance provider’s website to determine which doctors were within my network. Such luck — the chiropractor closest to my house is in my network! What do I immediately do? I check to see if the chiropractor has a website. Tragically he doesn’t so in my mind that’s technically one strike against him but I decide to give him a pass and call to set up an appointment. I called a few minutes before 9 this morning, figuring someone would be in the office already, even if they technically didn’t open until 9. Well, no one answered but I did hear a voicemail message stating that the office was closed to patients today and tomorrow, but someone would be available to schedule appointments via phone between 9 and 3.
I called back about an hour later (closer to 10) and after about 12 rings, a woman picked up and immediately asked if I could hold. At this point, I was extremely irritated first with them not having a website and second that the phone rang so many times before someone picked up! So my answer to her “could you please hold?” question was “no” and I hung up.
Back to the insurance company’s website and onto chiropractor #2, who is conveniently located close to work and my home. I called, the actual chiropractor answered(!) and after a few questions, I scheduled an appointment. What was so interesting to me about this experience was that the chiropractor asked me how I got his name. Clearly he’s interested in how his marketing efforts are paying off. Right there I knew I was on the right track. After we set the date and time (he can get me in tomorrow morning already!) he gave me very specific directions to his office. Now I knew approximately where he was located but he insisted on determining where I was coming from so I could find his place with no problem. What great customer service!
I have to say, I’m feeling pretty optimistic about this chiropractor. Such a different experience between the two places I called. And with so many choices out there for consumers (not only for chiropractic services but in general), chiropractor #2 sure knows how to make a great first impression! Now hopefully he’ll be able to work wonders on my back!
The Daily Krier is running commentary on what's happening in my life on a regular basis. I write about things that interest me -- my family, my hobbies, my career in marketing. The blog was born from my interest in writing, my need to become more involved in all things related to social media, and my desire to start on my personal brand. The blog title is a play on my last name. It's technically pronounced "kreer" but everyone pronounces it as "cry-er". The mis-pronounciation lends itself extremely well to the title, don't you think?
