So on a whim a couple of weeks ago, I submitted an application for a contest here in Milwaukee through Fitness Together that’s along the lines of The Biggest Loser. While not significantly overweight, I could stand to lose about 20 pounds. My application talked about how I’m balancing work, raising two small children (ages 2 and 8 months), etc. Plus I threw in there how active I am in social media and my use of LinkedIn, Twitter, Facebook, this blog, etc., all in the hopes that they’d see how much free PR they’d get if they selected me. Well it must’ve worked because I found out today that I’ve made the initial cut. So now I’m onto Round 2 which consists of a lengthy questionnaire followed by an in-person interview next week.
If all goes well, I’ll be one of six contestants who will receive 5 months of personal training and nutrition counseling along with a video camera to tape my progress. How cool would that be?! Of course I’d have to find the time to fit this into my daily routine but it would definitely be worth it. The pressure of having to publicly report my progress would be terrific motivation. So keep your fingers crossed for me, and I’ll update this blog with the final outcome. Of course, if I am selected, you’ll read all about it right here.
The Daily Krier is running commentary on what's happening in my life on a regular basis. I write about things that interest me -- my family, my hobbies, my career in marketing. The blog was born from my interest in writing, my need to become more involved in all things related to social media, and my desire to start on my personal brand. The blog title is a play on my last name. It's technically pronounced "kreer" but everyone pronounces it as "cry-er". The mis-pronounciation lends itself extremely well to the title, don't you think?
