So I’m sitting here watching The Food Network, one of my fav cable channels, and a woman identified as a “7-11 Expert” was just interviewed. I wonder…..what made this woman so interested in 7-11 that she’s now a recognized expert? Is she some random 7-11 fan or (more likely) does she work in 7-11’s marketing department? That then got me thinking about the Seinfeld episode where George was trying to determine what he was good at when he found himself unemployed and in need of a new career. Every time he threw out an option based on something he liked, Jerry pointed out that some type of formal training was probably required. In this age of social media, how things have changed. We’re learning as we go, new tools are popping up practically daily and it’s largely trial and error. The beauty of social media is that we can use the tools of the trade to reach out to those who are experts (like Chris Brogan, Guy Kawasaki, etc.) and get feedback, insights, suggestions and more instantly.
As Kenny Bania would say, “It’s the best, Jerry, the best!”
The Daily Krier is running commentary on what's happening in my life on a regular basis. I write about things that interest me -- my family, my hobbies, my career in marketing. The blog was born from my interest in writing, my need to become more involved in all things related to social media, and my desire to start on my personal brand. The blog title is a play on my last name. It's technically pronounced "kreer" but everyone pronounces it as "cry-er". The mis-pronounciation lends itself extremely well to the title, don't you think?
